Telling of a Story

Annie sat down in her old rocking chair and had all her grand and great grand children gather around as she told them a story. She gathered little Nicole up on her lap and began to rock. Annie looked at each one, and then asked them, “I think I’ll tell you about the bear we found in the cellar.”

“What’s a cellar grandma?” JC asked.

“Well, it’s a basement, but it has dirt floors and isn’t good for much, except storing canned goods and storm shelter.” she said with a giggle, then began.

Many years ago when I was a little girl, my cousins and I had always heard stories of a bear down in my parents cellar. One day in mid July, my cousin Eddie decided to do just that. I was busy roller skating and Eddie had been playing ball with his brothers. He come running over to me when their game was over, and asked. "Are you ready to go down to the cellar?"
I didn't really want to go in my skates, but I said, "OK, let's go."
He helped me down the steps and we creeped around the corner of the door, being very careful not to make any noise. It was very dark, we only had the light streaming in from the door. I remembered that mom always walked to the center of the main room to turn the light on, and I started to skate over to turn the light on when all of a sudden we heard this strange noise. We wanted to find out exactly what it was and so I continued toward where I knew the light was.

There the noise was again, I turned to Eddie, and suggested, "I think we should get out of here."

Eddie didn't share my thoughts, he said, "No, we came down here to find that bear, and we're going to find it."

It was just then, that a loud crashing sound come from the back part of the cellar, and then a low growl. I screamed, "Get out, get out!"

I turned to run out, but instead ran into Eddie, we both landed on the floor. We got ourselves up, and raced to the stairs.
Eddie ran up the steps first, and I scrambled up the best I could, being on skates. When I got close to the door way, Eddie reached and grabbed my hand and pulled me up. We slammed the door shut and ran in the house as fast as we could.
My dad saw us scramble out of the cellar door, and race into the house. He asked, "What are you two up to?"

After kicking off my skates, I ran over to him and grabbed his hand and said. "Daddy, Daddy, you got to come quick, we found a bear in momma's cellar!"
My dad laughed, and said, "Now Sissie, there can't be any bears down there."

I wasn't believing him, and retorted with, "Oh yes, there is too. We saw it!"

He pointed toward the window that overlooked the cellar door, and suggested, "Go on over there and watch the cellar door."
Slowly we walked over, Eddie and I looking at each other. We stood there watching the cellar, I looked up at Eddie and asked, "Do you think my dad is right?" My voice was so gripped with fear that it quivered.

He replied, "I don't know, but I do know what we saw down there."

It wasn't very long and we saw the door begin to open. My heart began to pound even harder. I knew this was it, not even daddy could help us now.

I yelled, "Daddy, Daddy, come quick" I just knew he wouldn't get there in time.

How can this be happening to us, here on our lovely little farm? I thought to myself.
With a loud bang, the doors come open, Ed and I both held our breaths, as we looked at each other. Wondering what would happen now, with a bear on the loose.

I ran back over to my dad, and begged, "Daddy, please come and help us."

He only instructed me to go back to the window. Before I got there, Eddie was sitting on the floor laughing, almost in tears. I thought that was rather strange, seeing as a bear was

running loose.

I ran back over to the window and just couldn't believe my eyes. My big brother, was doubled over laughing, he had been the so called bear in the cellar.

I was furious, so much so, that it had to fight back tears of anger. How could he be so mean to us? We could have been hurt or worse.

Well, I was not amused at all, and I promised myself right then and there, that when ever the opportunity come up, I would get him back, and that day come a few years later.

What I’ve Always Wanted

I have always loved to write, and I have a story that I’ve had brewing in my head for years. It’s a love story, the kind that last forever. The kind we all want to live, only this is based on a true love story. My only regret is that my Mother didn’t live long enough to finish it, and so the ending we may or may not ever know. ;)

Last Sunday (08/31/08) I took my daughter (in law), my grand daughter, and my 13 yr old son to "Animal Paradise" which is owned by Animal Safari. We decided to drive my car through to see the wild animals, and feed them instead of taking the bus through. It took us roughly 3 hours and we had a blast, the car as well as us, got slobbered on. lol I got a few close up pictures of us feeding the animals. The only ones that wouldn't come up to the car, were the Zebra's, and the camel tried to get his head in the car to gobble ALL of the food that we had for them. After we drove through, we went through the walk through. Some of the animals we could not feed, like the black panther, but we did get to see it. I got a pretty good shot of him. Hope you enjoy!

Better Buckle Up?

At my step son's school there is a wrecked utility truck on display, it's driver education time again. They have signs up around it, saying how the driver walked away because he wore his seat belt. I'm glad they are teaching the kids safety, and showing them what CAN happen if they disregard it. Which brings to mind the main reason for me writing this. ;) The D.O.T. has signs up all over our highways and byways telling us to buckle up, or as some signs say...click it or ticket. I know, and I agree that wearing a seat belt is safe and I'd wear one even if it wasn't the law. My problem is... that it's MY choice! They let women abort their unborn babies because of CHOICE, but yet they make us wear a seat belt? What's wrong with this picture? I heard this saying in a movie, and it's so very true. " People should not be afraid of their Government, the Government should be afraid of it's people." They work for us, they serve us, it's by the people for the people. Some where along the line we have let them completely take over our lives. Do we not have the ability to make up our own minds? Have we become so helpless that we want them to do our thinking for us? All this goes much deeper then just a seatbelt, much deeper. If you value your freedoms, or at least what's left of them, then take a deep hard look at the way this country is being run. It's been gradually heading this way for many many years, but it's not too late for us, as a people, to unite once again and take back the country we love and once had.

As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe quoted, "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free."

I take my freedom seriously, and I intend to stand up and fight to keep what I have left and get back what was taken away.

Obama's Victory--A British view

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the US mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood , the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros, Moore, and Sarandon. Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity. A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation.

A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Congratulations America !

Bailout bill contains buried provisions to invade your privacy

Do you think the IRS should set up undercover operations to entrap unsuspecting taxpayers?

Do you think the IRS should release your confidential tax returns to law enforcement and intelligence agencies upon request?

If you answered "No!" to either question, you're out of luck. Before its October recess, Congress passed a bill giving the IRS these powers.

You may ask, "Why didn't Downsize DC oppose this bill?"

As a matter of fact, we wrote against it virtually non-stop for two weeks!

Don't remember?

That's understandable. These provisions are buried in Sections 401 and 402 of Division C in H.R. 1424, the Bailout bill.

The Bailout, or "Emergency Economic Stabilization Act," has a wild history. In just twelve days it morphed from . . .

* A three-page proposal by the Bush Administration
* To a 110-page amendment attached to an unrelated bill that was rejected by the House
* To a 422-page bill passed by Congress and signed into law.

The Library of Congress's summary of the bill is nearly 6,200 words, or 14 pages! (The final Public Print version of the bill, in smaller fonts, is 169 pages.)

In other words, the bailout bill went from bad to worse, in the space of just a few days, and the final price tag included not just $700 billion, but your privacy rights as well.

Next week, we'll explain how the One Subject At A Time Act would have prevented the Bailout bill from passing. This week, however, we'll note how things would have been different under the Read the Bills Act.

* Because the Bailout bill would have gone through a full reading before a qorum in each chamber, Congress would have had incentives to make it as understandable and as brief as possible, with few unrelated provisions and earmarks.
* Because there would have been a seven-day waiting period before voting on passage, members of Congress would have had time to really consider the arguments for and against it.
* Because the bill would have been posted on the Internet during those seven days, Congress would have had an incentive to cut out objectionable parts, such as giving the IRS more power.

Under the Read the Bills Act, Congress would be prevented from spending only a few days to write and pass 400+ page bills costing nearly a trillion dollars. The Read the Bills Act would also make it harder for Congress to attach completely unrelated provisions, such as giving the IRS increased powers to invade your privacy.

Please use our Educate the Powerful System to demand that your Representative and Senators introduce the Read the Bills Act.

In your personal comments, tell them about the IRS provisions in the Bailout bill. Ask them if they knew about these provisions when they voted on the bill. Ask them if this bill was really passed with the "consent of the governed," given that members of Congress didn't read and couldn't understand the bill.

$61 billion stimulus package failed in the Senate

Lost in the noise of the election was the good news that the Senate rejected a $61 billion stimulus package that the House had passed earlier.

But House Democrats are still pushing for another stimulus package that they will try to pass in a lame duck session. The details are constantly shifting, but this proposal would add another $150 billion to $165 billion to a national debt that has grown by nearly a trillion dollars in the space of about a month.

The good news on this front is that a new stimulus package will once again meet resistance in the Senate, and the Bush White House has signaled that it will not support the package.

The bad news is that President Bush has left open the possibility that he would support a different type of stimulus package. The President has not explained what he has in mind, but you can bet that it will involve horse trading with the Democrats so that the Republicans get spending they want in return for spending the Democrats want.

Remember, this is your money they're playing with.

Meanwhile, the talking heads on CNBC are claiming that the stimulus package is needed to prevent budget cuts by state governments that are losing revenues due to the economic downturn. In fact, California has an $8 billion shortfall, and is danger of default. We think downsizing is the answer to this problem, but the politicians and the talking heads think more borrowing is needed. Think of what their argument implies . . .

It's okay for you to have to downsize your personal budget when times get tight, but no level of government must ever have to downsize, no matter what the circumstances. Government must always remain large, and must always grow, even at the expense of taking more money from the productive economy.

The idea of a "stimulus package" continues to be the threat of the moment. We must continue to fight it. Government should be cutting its spending right now. Use our Educate the Powerful System to tell Congress to oppose any increased spending, and any "stimulus package" of any kind.

Not your usual post-election commentary

The media describes every election as historic, the most important in a generation, etc. When the voting is done they tell us a new era has dawned, that things will change, that nothing will ever be the same, blah, blah, blah.

One aspect of these claims is true, this time. It is both historic and meaningful that the United States has elected its first African-American president. We applaud and celebrate this. We think the significance of this event transcends mere symbolism. Otherwise, the election was what all other elections have been . . .

Can we support this harsh assessment? Consider . . .

The election thoroughly repudiated the Republican Party. They lost the White House in a landslide, and got clobbered in Congressional races. We might assume from this, if elections really produced change, that many Republican policies of the last eight years will be reversed. We predict that almost none of them will be.

The Republicans were responsible for . . .

* Enacting the largest new entitlement in decades -- the prescription drug program
* Passing social engineering schemes like "No Child Left Behind"
* Starting an un-provoked war
* Gutting constitutional liberties
* Running-up vast deficits

Will the Democrats reverse any of these actions? Sadly, we think the answer is "No." What, then, was the point of the election?

Was it merely to punish the Republicans while leaving their sins uncorrected? Was the purpose to give the Democrats permission to pursue all of their own pet projects for social engineering, and to spend, spend, spend to their hearts content?

Undoubtedly this last item is the message Democratic politicians will claim they heard. After all, they received a mandate, and if the mandate was not to pursue their dreams then the word has no meaning.

Of course, some voters can say, "Don't blame me, I voted Libertarian . . . or for the Constitution Party . . . or the Greens." Didn't these voters, at least, send a clear message about what they want?

We think not.

What does the average person assume when he or she sees third party candidates listed in his newspaper with tiny vote percentages next to their names? We think he or she assumes that . . .

"Those are fringe candidates with fringe ideas that no one supports. Therefore, I need not consider what they have to say."

The system is rigged against third parties. This guarantees low vote totals for those parties. It also guarantees that the ideas those parties represent will always be viewed as marginal.

Third parties don't promote ideas, they marginalize them!

Oh yes, we know all about the exceptions, like the Socialists and the Progressives, both of whom had ideas adopted by the major parties. But please notice, those ideas made the politicians, and even tax-funded intellectuals in the school system, MORE POWERFUL. That's the real reason those ideas were adopted; it wasn't because the Socialists and the Progressives managed to score a few points on Election Day.

So what does voting for partisan candidates actually accomplish? What does it communicate? As far as we can tell the answer is nothing, except that . . .

It gives the victims of the con game -- the American people -- an illusion of control. But we have no control -- no say so.

Voting in the partisan electoral contest merely gives sanction to the con-artists who constantly victimize us. That's the role of the voter, to sanction what the politicians do. That's it. It's like Emma Goldman said, "If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal."

Is this the way you want things to be?

The ways of the future do not lie in the ways of the past. The ways of the past involved hoping the new boss would be different than the old boss. But many decades have come and gone, and the new boss has always been the same as the old boss. We should abandon the old ways and adopt new ways.

The way to a better future lies in withdrawing our consent and issuing direct orders to our supposed public servants. Votes send confusing signals. But plain talk is rarely misunderstood.

The new way involves building a new social force with the power to make public servants miserable. Withdraw consent. Issue orders. Make the public servant submit.

The politicians are busy right now convincing themselves that the public wants top-down, centralized, Democratic social engineering. Who can disabuse them of this notion? After all, the votes have been cast. The people have spoken.

Only YOU can disabuse the politicians of their self-serving interpretations of inarticulate votes. The Republicans were repudiated. Therefore, the things the Republicans did must also be repudiated. This should be the mandate for the new Congress. Fortunately, we have a vehicle for doing just that . . .

Ron Paul's "American Freedom Agenda Act" would repeal a good chunk of the bad things the Republicans did. Use our Educate the Powerful system to ask your elected representatives to pass this bill.

Use your personal comments to tell your elected representatives that the Republicans were repudiated, therefore the things the Republicans did must also be repudiated.

BLUE ASH, Ohio — Police in Ohio say an 89-year-old woman was facing a charge of petty theft because neighborhood children accused her of refusing to give back their football. Edna Jester was arrested last week in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash.

Police said one child's father complained that Jester kept the youngsters' ball after it landed in her yard. Police Capt. James Schaffer said there has been an ongoing dispute in the neighborhood over kids' balls landing in the woman's yard.

Jester said Monday she has received many calls and didn't have time to discuss the matter any more.

Jester is to appear in court next month. The maximum penalty for a petty theft conviction in Ohio is six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

My Growing Garden

As you know, I've been trying to get my gardens going. On a tight budget, and having to do the work alone is challenging. We lost our tree in the back yard during the 2007 Ice Storms, which I cut most of the tree down (with a hand saw) I'm using the tree trunk to keep my little dog out of my flowers (just under my living room window. Notice the Morning Glories growing on the side of my deck, I love stepping out each morning and seeing them bloom. My plans for the future is to build a frame around my living room window, so they can vine all around it.

The base of the tree, I've made a bird bath, the rocks, well that marks the grave of my husbands 17 years old cat (Moe) Future plans for this is a circle garden around it. I'm also using part of the upper trunk as an ornament. I want some sort of vinning flower around it, but haven't decided what yet. I also have honeysuckle planted where you see the lattice.

Now to the front of the house, I used the branches from that tree, to boarder this flower garden, I'm wanting it to be full of flowers with a few stepping stones so I can get to my bird feeders, Part's of it, is still rather bare, because the flowers just didn't do well, I'll not plant that kind there again. ;) You can also see that I have laid a green indoor/outdoor carpet, that is where I want to put pavers, and have a swing, so I can enjoy my garden. The porch...well that's for early mornings or rainy days.

The walk way to the door, strawberries on the left and English Ivy on the right. I'm still trying to kill the English Ivy, it takes over EVERYTHING! On the south side of the drive, I put in four pine shrubs, and a Hibiscus Bush, which blooms big peach flowers. You can also see our neighbor's trash laying around.

God instituted marriage between a man and a woman

God created man and woman (Gen. 1, 2). After God created Adam he said, "…it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him" (Gen. 2: 18). "Help meet" is from a Hebrew word that means a counter-part or compliment. In other words, God intended to provide Adam with a being ideally suited to meet Adam's social, psychological, emotional, and sexual needs. In the following verses of Genesis chapter 2, we read how God made a woman (ishshah, corresponding to man) for Adam. Rampant homosexuality is an indication of serious degradation in a society

The sin of homosexuality in Sodom and Gomorrah reached the point where God said "their sin is very grievous" and "is waxen great" (Gen. 18: 20, 19: 13). They were so depraved and steeped in homosexuality that any male stranger was in danger (Gen. 19: 5, "may know them" means to know sexually). Of course not, neither would anyone else, but you may as well do so, with the fruits and vegetables that are in stores today. They are so full of and covered with that poison, it's not funny.

If you want to buy organic grown (which is so much better) the prices are out of this world. Why not grow your own food?! If you don't have a plot of land, grow it in containers, I did before we moved to our home we have now. It's so rewarding to grow your own food, and if you have kids, let them grow herbs, it'll teach them so much about our land.

Growing Tomatoes

Most vegetable gardeners I know love growing tomatoes. They are relatively easy to grow in most areas of the U.S. as far as I know. You'll want to ask around locally and find out which varieties do best in your area. You'll want to pay attention to the number of days until harvest on the different varieties. Try to plant a few different varieties with different harvest days so can get some early tomatoes from some plants and keep on harvesting through summer and fall, depending on your local weather, from different plants that start producing later. Where I live in California, I'm often still picking tomatoes in November and December!

You can start tomatoes from seeds inside if you're eager to get started and want to save money. You can also do well by buying seedlings at your local nursery. Tomatoes need something to climb. You can buy (or make) wire cages or use stakes and tie up the tomatoes. The stakes are more work but much less expensive than cages.

If you're setting your tomatoes out early, you might consider sheltering them a bit from the cold. You can buy specialty items designed to do just that, which typically work quite well. You can also cut the bottoms off of plastic gallon milk jugs and remove the caps, then set these over your small plants. They act as mini greenhouses. If you get some nice sunny days, simply lift off the jugs. If you're using cages, you can wrap plastic around the cages to achieve the same effect.

You'll also do better if you mulch your tomatoes plants well. The mulch helps keep the weeds at bay and helps retain moisture. You can start with a few layers of newspaper an then cover those with straw, dried grass clippings, or other mulch.

When the first frost looks likely, pick all your green tomatoes and lay them in layers of newspapers in a cool, but not freezing, area. I use my garage. They will continue to ripe. They don't taste as good as the ones that have ripened on the vine, but they still taste better than anything I can find in the store!

You can, of course, can tomatoes or make your own salsa, ketchup, tomato sauce, and so forth. If you're in a hurry and have an extra freezer, simply wash and freeze whole tomatoes in a freezer bag. These are great for making stews, soups, and chili with later.

Living the simple life is not always an easy task. In today's world of hustle, bustle and busy lives, the simple life can be hard to find. It seems that the home can often become a rest stop to refresh a moment and then move onto the next activity. Life can become too busy. Perhaps in your heart you would like life to be a little simpler. You would like time to just "stop and smell the roses" but can't quite figure out how to get to that point. Another down side to a life that is too busy is that I believe it can rob us of some of the greater joys of being a homemaker. I believe that as we live this "life in the fast lane" we can become discontent.

How does a busy life make us discontent you may ask? Well when life is too busy we find that that the home and family will suffer. Things in the home won't run as we would like them to. The house may be more chaotic then we would like, household tasks are not being attended to, meals may lack nutritional value, too much money is spent on convenience foods due to lack of time, laundry piles up, we may not be able to get to some of the projects we have been putting off, and so the list goes. So we end up feeling discontent because things are not as we would desire them to be. Our homes are not functioning as though we are in control of our domain.

So we set out to make some changes. We have an idea of what we might like our homes to be and begin to figure our ways to achieve this. As we desire to make changes we start looking for ways to make our lives easier. We think that easy and simple go hand-in-hand.

We have countless appliances that will do every task imaginable. We seek out the latest convenience foods so we can spend less time in the kitchen; we stream line so we can accomplish more and more each day. Not all of this is undesirable or without merit, but is this the answer to a simple life?

To me simplicity is not dinner from a box; it is a home cooked pot of soup and homemade bread. To me simplicity is not a cake mix, but a cake made from scratch with whole wheat flour I grind myself. To me simplicity is not permapress clothing but a little time at the ironing board to think, pray, and learn to be content with my role in life. To me simplicity is not always wanting more stuff, but learning how to enjoy and appreciate what I have. To me simplicity is not sticking a DVD in for the kids to keep them occupied; it is spending an afternoon in the garden working side-by-side with them. To me simplicity is not buying my milk from the grocery store, but milking my own goats. Simple living is not always easy living. Simple living, to me, is taking a slower walk in life and appreciating the things that go to making our lives as homemakers complete and fulfilling.

The satisfaction and joy we can get from so many homemaking tasks can easily be lost unless we intend in our heats to live a simple life. But a simple life can take more time. If we can't slow down enough to enjoy some of the basic fundamentals of homemaking then perhaps we are missing some of the very things that make a simple life an enjoyable life. A simple life is something one learns to love if it is a life that they desire to have.

Many simple living tasks have a multitude of blessing that go with them. When our dryer went out last summer we were learning how to enjoy the simple living task of hanging out laundry. We learned that sometimes working harder at a job has its own merits. I pointed out to my children that we saved money by not running the dryer and that in turn meant Dad's hard earned dollars could be put towards other needs in the family, we also learned that putting clothes on the line at 6:30 in the morning is a perfect time to enjoy the quiet sounds of summer on our homestead. There is a peace in this that is hard to find in the middle of the day. We also learned that sheets that have been drying in the sun have the best smell!

The kitchen seems to be another room that abounds with simple living tasks. I think food and preparation of meals is something very important to a family. It is easy to be frustrated at the time spent in the kitchen, however it is an opportunity to look beyond the mundane and see the bigger goal being accomplished when you spend time preparing home cooked meals for your family. The health benefits alone that are received from home cooking can give us as homemakers much satisfaction. I love knowing that I am feeding my husband and children good quality foods that will assist them in living a healthy life. There are also financial benefits from it. Every frugal meal that is cooked from scratch for my family means my husband does not have to be working for boxes of Hamburger Helper or packages of Rice-a-Roni or any other costly packaged convenience food.! These types of realizations can hopefully be positive reinforcements on the value of simple living. Most of all, when your family sits down to eat at the end of a long day who could deny the absolute joy of setting down to meal of homemade, made with love from the heart, food?

Living a simple life may require changes to the way we live. I don't have a busy life outside my home. I have it this way on purpose. I am happiest when my life is simple and serene. Well as serene as life gets with a houseful of children! ~smile~ I am the most content when I live a life in my home, doing the things that make my home run smooth and giving my family a quality of life that is fulfilling.

I pray today that anyone desiring a simpler way of life will be able to achieve this and be able to find great joy in your life as a homemaker!

I've had plans for my gardens for some time, but it always seems that something comes along and changes my plans. I had a big container garden in the Summer of 2004, and at the end of that Summer we bought this house and moved. My gardening plans really began to grow then, I had plans of renting a tiller and really getting it going. Before that time ever arrived, we found out my husband had cancer. Gardening was the first thing needed, but that last thing we were able to do. He was off work for about 4 months, and to shorten a very long story, we almost lost everything we have. But all is well now, and he is doing great, the garden plans are back on the board, but it'll take a few years to complete, since I'm doing all the work myself, and don't have a truck or use of one to haul stuff that I need.

I did put out two black berry bushes, and am going to build and arbor for them, also wanting to get two more. I have 4 tomato plants this year. I have one raised garden bed built on the North East corner of our lot. I'm planning on putting in ten to twelve more beds. Plans are in for another arbor for grapes this one will have seating. Also wanting to put in three or four fruit trees. Our backyard will be full that's for sure, and hopefully nun or very little grass will be back there. I also made a bird bath from a tree stump. We had an old weeping willow tree that we lost during several ice storms in the winter of 07/08. I have a circle lined our for plants that attract butterflies and birds around the bird bath.

Company is Coming

Our home just got empty from my grown children, grand-children being here. In a few weeks my Great Niece will be coming to visit me for a week. She is 13 and like more like a grand daughter to me. I call you my little sweet pea, from the time she was just a baby. She hasn't reached the age where she doesn't like it yet, and I'm glad of that. Since I moved away from Indiana, I don't get to see her much, and I've got a bunch of things planned to do with her. Movies, games, museums, etc. She'll really like being down here in the Ozarks.

Our Homestead Adventure

Living the rush, rush live in the Big City, is just NOT for me. I prefer being out enjoying the fresh air, getting my hands dirty in my garden. Taking the extra effort making homemade bread for my family, or making homemade chicken soup, instead of opening up a can and dumping it in a pan, and then warming it up. Where's the love in that? I want to SHOW my family I love them, not just tell them. We have a ONE income family, and we live well. When I say one income, it means one of us works outside the home, and that would be my husband, he works very hard for our money. I work here at home, and I also run a small (part time) business from our home. I work at saving money everywhere I can. We keep our lives simple, if we NEED it, we get it.

How Safe Are We?

When you go into the grocery to purchase food, do you really feel safe doing so? I sure don't, at least not any more. There was a day, when we could buy, and feel it was safe to eat. With all the contaminations in our food supply here lately, it's a wonder more people haven't already jumped on the band wagon of eating and GROWING their own organic food. People have been saying it for years now, "There will come a time when we'll have to supply our own food." WAKE UP people, the time has ARRIVED! What more do we need to happen to our food supply for us to get it?

This just in the news today, (WASHINGTON (Reuters) - As many as 20 million chickens currently on U.S. farms in several states may have been fed contaminated feed, the U.S. Agriculture Department said on Friday.)i??

HELLO?! Whether our food is USDA approved or not, it makes no difference any more. The food we buy is just NOT SAFE TO EAT. We can't even buy SAFE PET FOOD, what does that tell ya? I know one thing, I don't have to get hit over the head to see what's going on.

WAKE UP AMERICA

The following is my OPINION in matters of our failing morality in this country...Read it or not, it's your choice, we still do have that choice.....for now! I generally let most things slide off my back, but these are things that should concern us all. I have a passion for life...ALL LIFE! Life that Yahweh our Heavenly Father Created.

The day is about over, and I heard on the news about the father who threw his children over a bridge. I saddens my heart to hear things like this, but in our day in age it does not surprise me. When you think about, babies are being butchered daily and no one thinks twice about it, women are being kidnapped and raped, beaten and people say "she must have been a prostitute, or no good." We have to fight with all we have, to stop "same sex" marriages. This is to name just a few, WAKE UP PEOPLE!! What has to happen to shake some since into you? Rather you believe it or not, the "end times" are upon us. Just take a look around and open you eyes.

Women have the RIGHT to what happens to their bodies, BUT what about the RIGHT for that CHILD. A Yahweh Created Human Being that has a heart beat. Who has it's life snuffed out by an uncaring woman. Plain and simple, life is life! Death is Death! I hear some people say, I'm against abortion unless it's rape, I say B*ll Sh*t!!!! For what ever reason that woman was raped, that baby was somehow meant to be here. OMG it may cause trauma for the woman...baby or no baby, it's traumatic to be raped, and YES I know first hand. If I would of had a baby because of it, I don't know if I would have raised it, or given it up for adoption, but chances are, I would have kept it, and he/she would have been GREAT. Because I would have made it my goal to make sure that child achieved GREAT things. Instead of cowering down and saying woe is me...I would have got back up and say "bring it on" and kick butt on the way.

So, what does have to happen before people will wake up? Let's take a look...Killing babies is legal, as long as "the mother" does the killing. Yet, if someone else kills that same baby, OMG it's all of a sudden considered a human being and that someone has now committed a murder. Do I hear "double standard"? DUH!!!

Children are being murdered by their own parents, the ones whom are supposed to PROTECT them. Mom and Dad are the ones who are supposed to show them love, understanding, discipline when needed. Instead the State has taken over the job of the parent. In some cases the State should get involved, but they have crossed the line. How did they take over the roll? BECAUSE THE PEOPLE GAVE IT TO THEM!! NO ONE can take from you what you do not freely give...Someone comes up to me and tries to take my purse, do you think I'm going to just freely give it to them??? NO WAY, if they want it that bad, then they have one BIG fight on their hands. Society has freely given their "freedom" over to Big Brother. Why and how did this happen?

Think about this...

1. They begin by telling people "falsely" that they need to drink MORE water.

2. They then tell people that fluoride is GOOD for the teeth.

3. They add fluoride to the drinking water.

4. After long enough it makes people complacent.

We do not need 8 - 8 oz glasses of water a day. You simply need enough water to replace what you've lost through out the day, so some people need more then others.

Fluoride is an aluminum by product, and if it's good for your teeth....tell me what good does it do your brain after it passed through there before it ever gets to your teeth. If it even makes it to your teeth. IF fluoride is good for the teeth, then leave it in toothpaste and OUT of the water supply!

Not only does it make people complacent but it also caused Alzheimer's, Dementia, and more....

FLUORIDATION-LINKED CANCER
Studies based upon the U.S. Vital Statistics for fluoridated versus non-fluoridated U.S. cities indicate a
significant (greater than 99% confidence level) increase in cancer death rates occurring within the first two
years of artificial fluoridation.

The nine organ sites affected and their increase above the normal are:
Mouth, 15%; Oesophagus, 48%; Stomach, 22%; Large Intestine, 31%; Rectum, 51%; Kidney, 10%;
Bladder and other urinary organs 22%; other organs specifically female: Breast 15%; Ovary and Fallopian

Keeping Kids Well

My sons are age 26 and 23. They were never sick much as children. I did not give them multi vitamins, nor any other supplement. From the time my oldest one was a few months old, I would take walks, I'd bundle them up and take a walk. In very cold whether and hot whether, it built up their immune system by being out in the fresh air on a daily basis. This did not however prevent chicken pox and the such, it does cut down on colds and flu. To this day as adults my sons do not tend to get sick. If they begin to get something, it's easy for them to shake it off.

This is something my parents did with me, and my dad told me about it when my oldest son was born. Walking with your kids is three fold... 1. Getting the exercise we all need. 2. Doing something with your children. 3. Keeping your children well. Too many children are kept inside in front of the TV, it's been around since before I was little. However, too many parents use the TV as a "babysitter" My system was that a child can only watch TV when a parent is watching with them, and no more then 2 hours of TV on a school day. My boys had to choose what shows they wants to watch each evening. They could only watch TV when their homework was finished. I'm just glad that they seemed to like the same shows. ;)

Sometimes, Fears Become Real

We all have fears of some sort, I have several. I'm not talking about the "fear of spiders" or "fear of mice" etc. You get the idea. But fears like, getting hit by a train, or a semi, etc. My husband is a OTR truck driver, and I know first hand the BS they have to put up with. I also have had a great fear of being hit or run over by a big truck. This morning began like any other day that my husband is due to go back out on the road. I get up around 5:30 am, get my work done, wake him up at 8:00am our youngest son waking at around 8:30. I'm preparing breakfast, so we can eat when my hubby gets out of the shower. I help him get all his thing gathered up, we load the car and head to the truck stop. We arrive and park in front of his truck (like always) I stay in the car, and let our son help dad. It was cold and he likes helping anyway, they got the car unloaded, and JP (our son) got back in the car. He was belted, but I told him to unbuckle because he was going to get out in a few minutes when we say our goodbyes to dad. It wasn't 2 minutes after I said that, that all of a sudden the back end of our car was shoved 4 to 5 feet. By non other then a Semi. My husband was sitting in his truck and watched in fear as this was happening. He jumped out of his truck, as I got out of our car. The other trucker got out and said he didn't see us. I thought *duh.....big red car* what part of our big red car could he NOT see???? Once my husband got to me, I broke down. I was able to dial 911 on my cell, but my hubby had to talk to them. I just wasn't able to get much out at the moment. I went over and started taking pictures with my cell, of his truck, our car. Three of Strafford's Finest come right out, and took the report. We got this car one year ago in February, and take very good car of it. Now we have a couple of big dents on the drivers side and a big patch of ugly green paint.

The ONLY funny thing about this, is the trucker is from Indiana, I was born and raise in Indiana. So once my nerves settle some, I was able to write this. My hubby keeps calling to make sure we're all right. JP was quite shaken, but he is taking it all in stride, as best we can. So anyway, please do, keep us in your prayers. I praise Yahweh for traveling mercies and he gave them to us today, it could have been much worse.

For Everything There is A Reason

The reason for this web site, is to inform people, of another way of life. Not the hustle and bustle of hard working, no playing and no time for family way of life. Learn to stop and talk with your kids, spend time with them. Take them to the zoo, the museum, or to the park or even a picnic in your own back yard. Don't leave it to a babysitter, a nanny or the school system to do it for you. Better yet, try home schooling them, not only will they learn new things, you'd be surprised at what new things you'll learn as well.
I'll also show you ways to be able to stay home, and bring home a paycheck as well. If you're a working mom, and would like to be home with your children, check out some of my money making pages. I'll be adding more all the time so be sure to check back often.
I grew up in a small town in Indiana during the 70's, my husband grew up in a big city in California in the 60's. Even though we spent our teen years on opposite sides of the country and during different decades, we enjoy the same kind of music, movies, activities, etc.
When I was a teen, you'd see me in jeans, a t-shirt and a bandana around my head. I looked like a punk from the 60's. Now, I own one pair of jeans and everything else are dresses. Not only did my appearance change, but my attitude changed as well.
If you come to the end of your life, and look back. What will you see? I don't want to see my life lived for nothing. In time you will learn the things I have lived through in my life. The and if that should help anyone who may read this, then my purpose here has been a success.

Living Simply...

Today, it's hard to think of a simpler time. When mothers could clean house, tend the garden, keep three meals a day on the table, and still have time to sit on the front porch and enjoy the flowers she planted out front. Why was that? Were there more hours in the day? There were no distraction as there are today, no TV, no phone, etc. Today, when I'm in the middle of my morning chores, and I get a phone call, the time goes by so fast and before I know it, the noon hour has arrived and I'm not finished yet. I love having a phone, it keeps me close to my family who lives far away, and my grand children. It keeps me in close contact with my husband who drives for a living. He depends on me keeping the house, and I depend on him providing the house for me to keep.

We have a house, a car, the basics, which include furniture, clothes, and a pantry stocked with food. How would having a designer sofa make me any happier? It wouldn't! If I were to die today, what good would all the "material" things do? We don't have the headache of payments for all this stuff. We stick to the things we need, not the things we want.

Every now and then we splurge for a want, for example, I received a book in the mail. I read it and loved it. I enjoy reading, so after talking with my husband, I joined this book club. The books are not your normal trashy romance novels, but inspiring novels. My husbands knows that I get enjoyment from reading these stories, and so he agreed. We also enjoy watching movies, but we didn't watch enough TV to rectify paying 30 plus dollars a month for cable, so we did away with it. You know what? We don't miss it, it's called an idiot box for a reason!

Living simply also means being creative, for instance I love watching birds and so I wanted some bird feeders. Instead of going out and spending a lot of money on feeders I made my own. I took several plastic vinegar one gallon jugs, cut 3 square holes on the side, then slit a X below each on and inserted small sticks into them to give the birds a place to rest while they eat. I then put small slits in the bottom for drainage. and tied a string to the top and I have two hanging in out tree and on at the back of out home. The birds just love to feast on the food that I give them.

I also wanted to have the old fashioned board feeders right in front of our windows, but the problem we have is that none of out windows have outside window sills. But two of the windows in the front have brick that runs under them. And so I place bird feed on the brick under each window and I am blessed to see all kinds of beautiful birds. They are so close I could almost touch them. I can also get a good look at them, it's relaxing to watch them feast.

These types of vaccinations usually continue for the next several years. In the past, this standard protocol has rarely, if ever, been questioned by parents.

More recently, however, the number of required vaccinations has significantly increased, prompting more awareness from parents about possible adverse side effects. After the Storm

Almost a year after the Big Ice Storm we had here in the Midwest during January of 2007, we had 15 hours of intense storms pass through here. One of the many tornadoes that passed through this area, come extremely close to our home.

That was bad enough, but then within days after the storm, we had contractor after contractor leaving adds, ringing the door bell, etc. I don't know which was worse, the storm or the contractors. We had just had a new roof put on this past summer from damage of last years Ice Storm, we has up graded to a architectural shingle as well.

Our roof survived the storms this year. But we still had them stop by our house...I even had one ask me if we'd be interested in upgrading... lol ... I responded by asking him upgrade to what, the roof we already have? He walked away with his tail between his legs. ;)

It seems that our stormy weather is not over for this month, this morning when I let the dogs out, it was a very nice 62 degrees, very windy but nice. Here it is noon, and the temp has dropped 30 degrees. It's going to be noisy tonight, and our oldest dog (Nikki) who is a Jack Russel Terrier, will be a nervous wreck. I've never seen a dog so scared of the sound of thunder.

I don't have much to do, to prepare for the storm. Just make sure I know where everything is, flashlights, batteries, blankets, the covering of Yahweh. Just as we should be prepared for the storms of life, to ALWAYS, rely on YHWH to cover us with His wings of Protection. Stay close to Him, and don't wonder off. Oh sure, I get off the straight and narrow from time to time. Who doesn't? Yahweh always leads us back to the green pastures, clear blue skies, the calming sea, in His loving Wings of Love and Protection. Just as a mother hen gathers and protects her chicks, she keeps them under her wings and protects them from the storms outside.

He keeps us, covers us during those storms, we don't know because the storms are so noisy. But...He is there! How do I know? Because after the storm, I listen, and I can hear Him breath.
When I was little, I would climb up on my Daddy's lap, and lay my head on his chest. I was scared of storms, and every time the storms were over, I could always hear my father breath.

I know, that if my earthly father comforted and protected me, my Heavenly Father will do that and more.

Does Blogging Help Promote a Website?

Well, I'm about to find out, I've read that it does. I'm don't just take someones word for it, I find out for myself. Take eBay for instance, I've done EVERYTHING that they say to do, and I still LOST money in 2007. I worked my tail off, with my hubby being off work or less then full time, because of cancer. I took on trying to help out financially, and the only way it's going to pay off is after filing taxes. As much as I enjoy having a store on eBay, I'm thinking of shutting it down and just selling my things on a website. I'll keep you updated to see what I do, and how it turns out.

I have several sites that I've built, and still maintain. One I started shortly after my hubby got out of the hospital, I gathered (and still gather) information concerning cancer, what it does, and it can NOT do, and where to go, who to turn to, etc... We were totally lost when we found out, and didn't find much until toward the end, when it was too late to get any kind of help. My hubby also is a very "proud" man, and won't take help from ANYONE. That is something he needs to work on.

When it comes to cancer, there is NO ROOM FOR PRIDE, swallow it, at least for awhile. His pride almost landed us on the streets. The cost of his treatments, is more then the mortgage on our home. Something to think about eh? I'll say! In 2006 he brought home about 43,000 for the year, in 2007 ( the year he went through treatment) he brought home barely 28,000. I didn't even come close to covering the difference by selling on ebay.
